Our History

The Dawnay Arms was built in 1779, and is situated in the picturesque village of Newton on Ouse,at the gates to Beningbrough Hall. It sits on the main road through the village, with a large garden to the rear, which stretches down to our moorings on the river Ouse.

We bought the pub  in May 2007, after a long search for the perfect place to set up a business and home for our young family. The Dawnay Arms had been closed for 18 months, and was in need of a lot of TLC, but we fell in love with it before we even stepped foot through the front door . With invaluable help from family and friends, the pub was refurbished, and we reopened in September 2007.

We have mooring space for customers arriving by boat, and you are welcome to stay overnight on the moorings if you are dining at the pub. For any further information on arriving by boat, please contact us on 01347 848345.
